The time to get your AHIP completed is now!

AEP is quickly approaching, and you don’t want to be stuck waiting for your certifications to process because you procrastinated. If you are in the Medicare Advantage game, you will need to pass AHIP along with the certifications for each carrier. Most carriers require you to submit your AHIP before you can even begin their certifications. For the upcoming season, United Healthcare does not require you to have AHIP, but taking it will automatically mark off several modules within their certification training. AHIP is normally $175, but six carriers have already announced they are offering a $50 discount if you take AHIP through their portal!

Some carriers will reimburse the entire cost of AHIP to agents that meet certain selling standards!

Humana has announced they will reimburse your testing fee if you take it under the following conditions:
1. You took the courses through the Humana Agent Portal, AND
2. You have successfully enrolled 10 MA OR 40 PDP January 1, 2018 effective members –
members must be accredited with CMS by March 3, 2018.

AHIP: The Basics

There are two courses in AHIP: Medicare, and Fraud, Waste & Abuse (FWA)
Completing 2018 AHIP will qualify you for the rest of 2017 as well as 2018.
2017 AHIP was available until June 16th, which means if you did not complete it before this date you will be required to complete 2018 AHIP in order to sell for the remainder of 2017. This also means that even if you completed 2017 AHIP, but contracted with a new carrier after June 16th, you will be required to complete 2018 AHIP in order to sell with them.
However, if you completed 2017 AHIP you will have the option to skip some of the modules in 2018 AHIP.
There are 5 Medicare AHIP modules. Agents will be tested on all 5 modules. Agents will have 3 attempts to pass the AHIP test with a minimum passing score of 90%.
If you do not pass the certification in the first 3 tries, you will need to repurchase 2018 AHIP certification
