Humana’s HMO Online-Only Certification

PURPOSE: This job aid will help guide you through the Humana HMO certification process

Who is this training for?

When it comes to external agent certification, Humana’s philosophy is simple, meet the agent where the agent wants to be met by making available training options. Agents who have never been HMO certified but are currently certified for PFFS and/or PPO now have 2 ways to complete their HMO certification. External agents can choose to complete their Humana HMO certification via a face-to-face class offered at the Humana market level by managers certified to conduct certification training OR, completely online starting April 3, 2017 at noon.

How does the online-only HMO certification work?

The HMO certification is a single course that should take an agent 1-2 hours to complete. The course contains a test that agents will need to pass with a score of 85% or better (3 opportunities to pass). The course covers:

How is the HMO online-only certification course accessed?

This is where it gets really easy. Humana has identified agents who do not have their HMO certification. We have assigned the course to them, so accessing and completing the certification takes just 3 easy steps:

Log into Humana MarketPoint University (HMU) via Vantage
Click on the tile called “Courses I am Enrolled In”
Launch the Humana`s 2017 HMO Online-Only External Certification and complete it satisfactorily

After agents complete their HMO online certification course satisfactorily they will receive the HMO certification code. This code is renewed when agents complete their annual Humana Recertification training.

What if an agent does not see the HMO online-only course in Humana MarketPoint University?

If an agent does not see the HMO online-only certification course in the area called “Courses I am Enrolled In” please contact ASU. They will confirm that the agent lacks their HMO certification and provide notification to the agent of action taken (or lack of action if it is determined that the agent already has their HMO certification).

What if an agent wants to complete their HMO certification in a face-to-
face class?

Agents will still have the option to complete their HMO certification via a face-to-face class, and Humana markets are required to conduct HMO specific cert classes for agents who prefer to receive their training face-to-face. Completing the HMO face-to-face certification follows the same process that Humana MarketPoint has used in years past. Agents will need to reach out to their market MSA to begin the face-to-face class enrollment process.
