24×7 Help Line
The company is expanding its 24×7 telephone helpline to provide assistance & support for all residents in affected areas. Phones are staffed with clinicians who will speak with people about how to cope with issues resulting from the disaster.
David Figliuzzi, executive director of the Cigna Foundation states: “We are all saddened by the loss and devastation from Hurricane Harvey and the disruption it has caused in people’s lives,”. He then went on to say “Our hearts go out to everyone in South and Central Texas affected by the hurricane and hope that this donation will help them with their recovery. We also encourage anyone affected by the hurricane to use Cigna’s 24×7 telephone helpline if they need support and assistance during this stressful and difficult time.”
Refill Restrictions
Also, Cigna and Cigna HealthSpring have lifted prescription refill restrictions for customers in counties throughout Texas. They have also waived prior authorization requirements for acute medical care and behavioral health services in affected areas. (These areas may expand based on the path of the storm.)
Donations to American Red Cross
To aid in the recovery efforts, Cigna is making a $200,000 donation to the American Red Cross and the company is also activating an internal website that will enable Cigna employees to request matching funds for their donations to the Red Cross.
Toll-Free Number Health/Assistance Benefits
People who don’t have health benefits or employee assistance program benefits can call a toll-free number – (866) 912-1687 – 24 hours a day through October 15. As for customers or employees on health programs with Cigna, they should call the telephone number on their Cigna I.D. card or (800) 244-6224.
Online Resources
Cigna also offers helpful online resources for physical, mental, and emotional self-care during turbulent times, including hurricanes and floods. Resources are available on CignaBehavioral.com in the Disaster Resource Center in English and Español.
